Otavio Cavalett

Otavio combines applied consulting expertise with a solid scientific foundation built during his international research career with extensive experience in evaluating decarbonization options across the road, shipping, and aviation sectors. He has contributed to the development of GHG accounting tools for policymaking, co-authored two recent IPCC reports, and published more than 80 scientific papers. Building on his experience in the decarbonization in the transport sector, he supports clients with evaluating climate implications of land-based mitigation strategies and regenerative and sustainable agriculture initiatives.
Previously, his work centered on the sustainability challenges associated with the role of biofuels and other renewables in decarbonizing hard to abate sectors. Notable examples include comprehensive sustainability assessments of soybean, sugarcane, and forestry value chains in Brazil. Otavio Cavalett holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Campinas (Brazil).
